F.A.Q.

Do you have a phone holder or USB charger on the bike?

Yes, All of our bikes feature a phone holder with wireless charging and multiple USB ports.

Is it possible to cross borders on your motorcycles and ride into surrounding countries such as Albania, Croatia, Serbia or Bosnia?

Yes, all our motorcycles have insurance and permits to travel to any countries around Montenegro and Europe. However, before starting the rental, please indicate which countries you want to visit to put a special permission mark in our contract. This is a free-of-charge option. However, our insurance do not cover the territory of Kosovo, you will need to look into this yourself to enter there.
Some of our clients ride a loop to Italy and even Spain. Do not restrict yourself.

How do you count rental days?

I use a 24-hour basis to calculate time. This means that a motorcycle picked up today at 11 am and returned tomorrow before 11 am will count as a one-day’s rental. And returned at 3:00 p.m. would count as two days.

Why should you pay for 4 hours as a full day? Let’s be honest: the average motorcycle is used for riding about 4-6 hours a day. So if you return later by 2-4 hours during the day – I will be forced to add you a full riding day.

And it certainly won’t be cheaper if you return the bike half a day earlier in the evening rather than in the morning. No one rides at night and it makes no difference to me whether the motorcycle sleeps in my garage or your responsibility at the hotel. I can accept it in the evening for your convenience.

Can I leave my luggage in your garage until the end of my lease?

Sure. This is free.

Is it safe to leave a motorcycle outside the hotel or other places in Montenegro?

Montenegro is currently one of the safest places for motorcycle travel in Europe. I don’t even lock my cases. But general safety measures are never unnecessary.

It’s okay, as long as it’s okay. What happens when I get in an accident? What are the basic principles?

We will do everything we can to make sure your vacation is not interrupted. We understand how hard it can be to plan, find tickets, pack and arrive. We will make sure that you are able to continue your vacation. Yes, things happen that can lead to unplanned expenses, but they can still be recovered, but time wasted can’t.

So the basics look like this:

If any repair of the motorcycle is required, the Renter is obliged to get approval for such repair from us. The Rental Company shall do its best to either send a service vehicle delivering a replacement motorcycle and/or a mechanic for the motorcycle haulage or find a contractor nearby the area where the motorcycle being rented is located.

The Owner must do his best to return the motorcycle to renting if the damage/fault is minor and the repair work can be done on-site or in the garage provided all safety requirements are met. The rental payment for the duration of the repair work caused by the Renter shall not be reimbursed.

If a motorcycle is lost or out of service due to the fault of the Client, a replacement motorcycle can be provided to the Client (if available). The replacement motorcycle is subject to a separate deposit and rental payment.

If the motorcycle is out of service due to the fault of the Renter, the cost of the motorcycle haulage is not included in the deposit, the cost of transportation is calculated and paid separately.

If the motorcycle is out of service due to the fault of the Client, the payment for the remained days of renting will not be returned to the Client.

If the motorcycle is broken down due to the technical problems beyond the control of the Renter, the Client shall be provided with the replacement motorcycle, and the downtime shall be compensated.

The deposit for the motorcycle does not cover any additional equipment and riding gear, if such equipment and/or gear is damaged it shall be charged separately.

My lease has started, but suddenly it rained/I’m not interested/I am tired/I broke the bike. Can I end my lease early?

As a rule, no. The agreement does not imply this.
Each case can be considered individually, if you really have grief and need to interrupt your vacation, we are ready to meet your needs.
Many motorcycles are booked very far in advance and if your rental was there, but it is not so easy to rebook the motorcycle tomorrow.
Plus we pay taxes and other fees on the whole amount, and that’s something we definitely can’t get back. We will try not to deduct the entire amount, but at least the next two days after the return will have to be paid.

Don’t forget we have equipment that allows you to ride in the rain as well. And Montenegro is truly beautiful and dramatic in cloudy weather.

Speaking of rain suits. Why do you only have them for sale and not for rent?

We do not rent out rain suits. It is very difficult to keep track of their condition when you return them. Careless handling and a small hole makes the raincoat unsuitable for further rental. We cannot stand under the shower after the rental is over to see if the holes have appeared or not.

What cards do you accept?

Credit/Debit MasterCard/VISA ONLY. Unfortunately no American Express, MIR, UnionPay, JCB, Diners Club UnionPay etc

Does the bike fully covered by insurance? Is my insurance with full coverage?

All motorcycles have third-party liability insurance (TPL) and comprehensive motorcycle insurance (CDW) with a deductible in the amount of a deposit. A deposit (from 700 to 2000 depending on the model) is the maximum liability you bear for the motorcycle, the insurance company pays any damage above the deposit.

With a refundable security deposit, If you drop a motorcycle at low speed and break down the clutch, lever, or mirror, we will charge repair or replacement costs from the deposit. If you do serious damage to the motorcycle, we will withdraw the full deposit but not more. Deposit is max liability the lessee bears for the motorcycle. The security deposit is refundable if the bike is not damaged at the end of the rent.

If you hit another vehicle through your own fault, it will be repaired at the insurance company’s expense. Our motorcycle will be repaired with your deposit, and if it is not enough, it will be repaired with the insurance.

In order to receive insurance payments, I will need a police report and a standard Euro-protocol form with a description of all parties involved in the accident.

If the accident was the fault of another party, then all repairs are at the expense of the insurance company. I will also need a completed police report and a Euro protocol form from you.

Do you have any routes?

Yes, of course. We share this information freely. Take a look at this page https://balkanmototravel.com/paved_roads/. Note that there are a couple one-day itineraries already stacked there, and 5-day and 8-day itineraries on separate pages.
All routes are created in google.maps. You can open the link for each day on your computer or directly on your phone.
You can open the route for each day on your phone and replace the first point with your location. Then you can simply follow the route by placing your phone in our holder with wireless charging. It’s easy.

And can you customize your itinerary to suit our wishes? We want fewer/more days, fewer/more riding hours per day, we want to cover 8 countries in three days or start from one point on the coast all 10 days.

We do our best to customize the itinerary to suit your wishes or group. Sometimes we adapt the route at the end of each day based on your speed, pace, and preferences. But sometimes this is not physically possible. As during the day to rearrange the route several times, to fulfill your wishes to pass all at once and at the same time in a couple of days.
And please understand, that we may have several groups or riders riding in parallel. You should not confuse assistance in route adaptation with a personal assistant. Prepare for your trip in advance. Read about the country, the main places, and sights (some tips about the country you can find here https://balkanmototravel.com/recommendation/). I cannot tell you what to do in the evening, where to go for entertainment, where to find a spa or casino. I am a motorcyclist who is thrilled with Montenegro’s nature and roads, but not a big fan of everything else.

Okay, can you book hotels for us?

Unfortunately, no.
There are too many things to consider: group size, couples, budget, private bathroom, shower, number of towels, type of breakfast, and a lot more. And at the end of the day, I don’t want to remotely solve the issues of water availability, toothbrushes, and other things.
For all this is created bookings.com, which works perfectly in Montenegro. Each day of our route ends in a city/territory where there are hotels of different levels to meet your requirements and wishes. Open booking.com and it will help you to make a reservation.

Off-Road Riding?

The Insurance company doesn’t cover any damages received while riding off-road.
The Customer acknowledges that off-road use of the motorcycle is prohibited unless explicitly authorized by us. We can’t control where you go on our bike, however, any damage or excessive wear resulting from off-road use, including but not limited to dirt trails, beaches, or non-public roads, will be the sole responsibility of the Customer.
The Customer is liable for any additional cleaning or maintenance costs incurred due to off-road use.
So just be sure to be prepared to be fully responsible for the bike.
If you want to get a hard off-road experience in Montenegro we have contacts of guys with tru-enduro-oriented bikes.

How do refunds of security deposit work?

If the deposit has been paid in cash, it will be refunded immediately at the end of the rental after the motorcycle has been checked for additional damage.
If the deposit was held on a card, we send a request your bank to release the deposit immediately at the end of the rental. But sometimes it takes time, usually one or two days, for the deposit to be released. Sometimes it takes up to 5 days. Sometimes it takes even a couple of weeks.

We have no influence on this and it depends on the bank that issued the card. We do not even see the transactions on our account, we only give instructions to freeze the funds on your account and unfreeze them at the end of the lease. So no real transaction. Sometimes it helps to write to your bank with photos of deposit release receipts.

What are your hours of operation?

Pick-Up and Drop-off Time of rental motorcycles are accepted during rental location business hours. Our working hours are from 9 AM – 7 PM.
But always before showing up at our Greet&Meet point agree on a time for you to show up. We can leave for service, tour, or delivery.
After-hours pick-up and drop-off have to be communicated with us to arrange the time. After-hour pick up drop off has a fee of 20 euro.
Late Charge: A 25 EURO per hour penalty is assessed if the motorcycle is returned late from the scheduled drop-off time. If you delay the motorcycle for more than 4 hours – a full rental day will be calculated.
